Terms of Service — Capitol Tape

Last updated: October 17, 2026

These terms cover the Capitol Tape browser extension and this website (together, "Capitol Tape"). By installing the extension or using the website, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Capitol Tape.

1. What Capitol Tape is

Capitol Tape shows publicly available U.S. congressional stock trade disclosures, filed under the STOCK Act, next to stock charts on supported websites. It reads only the ticker symbol from the page you are viewing. It cannot see your brokerage account, place trades, or move money.

2. Information only. Not advice.

Everything Capitol Tape shows is for information only. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal or trading advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security. The Quiet, Watch and Hot levels count filing activity; they do not predict prices. A member of Congress trading a stock says nothing reliable about how that stock will perform. Make your own decisions and, if you need advice, ask a licensed professional.

3. The data is public and provided "as is"

4. How you may use Capitol Tape

You may use Capitol Tape for your own personal, non-commercial information. You agree not to:

5. Websites you use it on

Capitol Tape draws its own small panel on TradingView, Robinhood, Webull and Schwab pages. Those sites have their own terms, and you are responsible for following them. Capitol Tape is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them, and they may change their pages in ways that stop Capitol Tape from working.

6. Pro subscription

7. Website account

An account on this website is optional and separate from the extension. If you create one with Google or GitHub, keep that account secure; you are responsible for what happens through it. The Privacy Policy explains what we keep.

8. Ownership

The Capitol Tape name, logo, code and website are ours. The disclosure filings are public records. Other names and logos belong to their owners and appear only to say which websites Capitol Tape works with.

9. No warranty

Capitol Tape is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation, to the fullest extent the law allows.

10. Limit of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Capitol Tape and its makers are not liable for any trading or investment loss, or for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, arising from your use of Capitol Tape or the data it shows. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

11. Stopping or changing the service

We may change, pause or stop Capitol Tape, or end access for anyone who breaks these terms. You can stop using it at any time by removing the extension.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will say so on this website or in the extension before it takes effect. Using Capitol Tape after a change means you accept it.
